【摘要】:ThisstandarddefinestheInformationRetrievalApplicationService(section3)andspecifiestheInformationRetrievalApplicationProtocol(section4).Theservicedefinitiondescribesservicesthatsupportcapabilitieswithinanapplication;theservicesareinturnsupportedbytheZ39.50protocol.Thedescriptionneitherspecifiesnorconstrainstheimplementationwithinacomputersystem.Theprotocolspecificationincludesthedefinitionoftheprotocolcontrolinformation,therulesforexchangingthisinformation,andtheconformancerequirementstobemetbyimplementationofthisprotocol.Intendedforsystemssupportinginformationretrievalservices,andfororganizationssuchasinformationservices,universities,libraries,andunioncataloguecenters,thisstandardaddressesconnection-oriented,program-to-programcommunication.Itdoesnotaddressinterchangeofinformationwithterminalsorviaotherphysicalmedia.
